When we last took a look at Animals+ and wrote the original guide, the mod had an impressive array of mobs, and that guide is still very much relevant since those mobs aren’t going anywhere. Since then, however, a new update to the Animals Plus mod brought 6 new mobs that aren’t covered in that guide, so let’s take a look, shall we?
Table of Contents
The mobs in the first part of the guide:
Animals Plus – Shark
Sharks are an addition to the underwater world of Animals Plus. These hostile creatures roam the oceans searching for prey. They are dangerous animals that deal a huge amount of damage and can take a punch, so do not underestimate them.
Animals Plus – Dragonfly
Dragonflies are another bug addition to Animals Plus, this time for the swamps. This passive insect won’t do you any harm, and only adds to the ambiance, like a lot of the mobs this mod adds.
Animals Plus – Crab
Crabs are peaceful residents of the beaches of the world. They are easily frightened and weak, but they are very fast and will run from you. They drop crab legs, an edible food item, making them somewhat worth the hunt.
Animals Plus – Tortoise
The tortoise is a peaceful resident of the jungle biome and are another mob with no gameplay purpose, but plenty of effect on the ambient mood of the biome they spawn in. I like turtles.
Animals Plus – Lyrebird
The lyrebird is an interesting peaceful mob because of its unique ability to imitate sounds of other animals and even some random ambient sounds, which means they will strut around the world making random noises, constantly confusing everyone around them. They can spawn anywhere and drop no loot.
Animals Plus – Chameleon
The final mob addition for this update is the Chameleon, a passive mob that dwells in the jungle biome. While lyrebirds are unique in their sound, chameleons are unique in their look – they turn into the color of the block they are standing on, camouflaging them into the jungle canopy.
That’s it for now. The update brought more of what we loved about Animals Plus – more life to the world through ambient mobs that don’t unbalance gameplay but provide make the world feel more dynamic. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on any other updates.
