Today we take a look at Slime Carnage, a mod that adds tons of unique new slime mobs and even new randomly generated structures to your world, like underground sewers, desert tombs, labs, and more! Let's take a look…
Like you'd expect from a mod named “Slime Carnage”, the mod adds a bunch of new slime types. The first bunch of them are elementally themed slimes that have an appropriate color and biome to spawn in. For example, the Snow Slime is white and spawns in snowy biomes. These elemental slimes are orange, blue, red, yellow, green and snow. Each one acts exactly like a normal slime (except for the green slime which also poisons for 2 seconds) and they each drop a distinctive gel of the same color (except for the Snow Slime that just drops a snow block). The gel can be crafted into jam.
Moving on from the simple ones, the mod also adds some other unique and quite original types of slimes. There's the Cactus Slime which drops cacti blocks, the mushroom biome Moo Slime which drops mushrooms, the Monkey Slime that drops bananas, the Cave Slime that drops stone, the Under Slime which spawns in deep caves and drops obsidian sometimes, and the Camo Slime that spawns in forests and drops wood. These all spawn exactly where their name suggests, filling out every biome in the Overworld with a special type of slime. For you Nether-dwellers out there, there's a Fiery Slime in everyone's favorite realm of fire, pain and suffering. Look at how adorable it is. Cutest little hellspawn monster ever.
But the Slime Carnage doesn't stop there, because the mod doesn't just stop at regular world generation. It adds new specially generated structures like sewers, taverns, labs, and desert tombs. Most of them are still a work in progress, but they already include special slimes and challenges. The sewer structure stands out because of the TMNT Slimes and Foot Soldier Slimes that reside there, which is a cool little reference. The desert tomb structure is also particularly interesting because the Slimeopatra, a boss slime, spawns in the final room. Visit it for a special challenge.
While the hostile slimes are great for fighting, Slime Carnage also includes NPC slimes that dwell in randomly generated structures added by the mod (like the lab and old man cave). These NPC slimes, (currently only the Doc, the Old Man and the Villager Slimes, with more planned) can be traded with, allowing you to acquire special items that include village scrolls that allow you to spawn a village building, ultimately creating your own slime village, populated with downright adorable little slimes in outfits according to their craft.
Slime Carnage also includes other features like new items that come from slime drops (this includes food, weapons and even armor) that round the mod out and make it a very interesting experience that I can certainly recommend for anyone except for the people that really, really hate slimes.
