Random world generation has become one of the most iconic features of Minecraft, and one of its main selling points. The blocky landscape that is always familiar, yet never the same is truly one of the best features the game has to offer. Since the biomes were added in beta, Minecraft's world diversity has been stunningly beautiful. But there are only so many biomes, so they start repeating themselves after a while. This is where modder Glitchfiend comes in with his mod, Biomes O' Plenty, which adds a whole lot of amazing new biomes to explore…
As the name suggests, Biomes O' Plenty is all about biomes and it adds over 75 new ones. From the snow-covered peaks of the Alpine Forest to the barren grey Wasteland, the new biomes will take your breath away. Each one is unique in its own way - tree types, terrain features and height, blocks, plants, and more. So for example the Lavender Fields biome is mostly flat with a few purple trees and is filled with a new plant type - lavender. The sheer number of biomes means there is very little chance your world will contain lots of the same biome.
But Biomes O' Plenty does not stop at new biomes, it also adds new sub-biomes that spice up larger bland biomes. For example, you can now find an oasis in a desert biome. It breaks the monotony and provides an interesting new aspect of exploration. Biomes O' Plenty also adds Nether biomes that'll spice up your trip to hell. Though they are not many (there are only a few), they are different enough that the Nether really does feel fresh and exciting.
The new terrain added by this mod ranges from slightly altered vanilla to wildly different new landscapes. From realistic biomes that try to replicate real world places like the Alps, to the fantasy inspired ones like the Mystic Grove. The easiest way to get a feel of the biomes is to take a look at this fantastic album on imgur: //imgur.com/a/jDVGa
All in all, I cannot recommend this mod enough. I can hardly play without it anymore and vanilla terrain just looks bland and boring in comparison. Get the mod here:
