Better Grass & Leaves Mod makes the flora prettier

The cubey world of Minecraft is dotted with flora. Leaves and grass (and others too) cover the surface. Modder Poersch decided that it could look better, and so the Better Grass & Leaves Mod came to be. The mod essentially adds a few pixels to some textures, making them less cubey and more lush. Let's take a look.

What this mod does is hard to describe in words, so let me preface my explanation with a quick animated overview:

As you can see, the leaf blocks in these screenshots aren't exactly cube-shaped, but have a more organic shape. They are also more lush and wild, making them seem more realistic. There are even particle effects for leaves falling from trees, for added prettiness.

The leaves aren't all, though. Grass has also been improved with this mod. It's now a bit shorter, but it has effects when you walk on it and makes the landscape look overall smoother and nicer.

The mod recently also supports reeds and algae, an addition for extra waterside beauty. The reeds grow on river coasts. They're not very high, but they look very nice and give a wild feel. The algae are basically underwater grass, but still manage to add to the visual experience with their many colors.

The mod isn't big, but it's very nice. It works with a lot of mods and packs, and especially well with shaders. It also has instructions on how to add support so your favorite mod/pack might be added soon too! I personally enjoyed this mod very much and will be using it often, if possible in tandem with a biome mod and shaders. You can get it here:
