Earlier today at the Microsoft E3 press conference, Mojang took the stage to announce a new version of Minecraft - Minecraft Hololen modified for Microsoft's Hololens holograph system, basically putting a Minecraft world onto a desk through the use of AR technology. It looks amazing, and you have to see it to believe it…
While there isn't any information about the release of Minecraft Hololens, we did get a lengthy demo showcasing it. The demo included two people, one playing regular Minecraft on a tablet, and one using the Hololens. The player using the Hololens had a bird's eye view of a few chunks worth of terrain and could give commands to zoom in and out, interact with the world, and “move” the camera which basically means changing which part of the world the limited size square table displays.
The entire demo was accompanied by astounding effects like the Minecraft world rising from inside the desk, and the camera following the other player as she rode a Minecart around. You can see the demo in all its glory in the video below:
No details were given about the release of this futuristic-looking version of Minecraft, but we'll be sure to keep you updated, so stay tuned for more Minecraft news, as well as the usual mod-related content.
