Minecraft Realms, Mojang's server hosting service, is now available to users on PC and Mac worldwide. This means everyone can now get their hands on some fine servers. Read on for the details.
After slowly rolling out the service to more and more countries during the last few months, Mojang have now decided their service is stable enough and released it worldwide. Users around the world are reporting good performance so far, and there have been no issues in sight.
For those of you that aren't familiar with Realms, it's Mojang's proprietary server hosting service. For 10€ a month you get an easy to use, no hassle involved server hosted on Mojang's fast servers. It's aimed at the casual crowd - it allows you to run a small private server easily without ever really leaving the game. You can't modify the server or really do anything advanced with it, making the 10€ investment possibly too steep for advanced users, however it makes sense as a way to capitalize on the casual crowd enjoying the game like an MMO experience.
